about

Founded in Berlin in 2004, the janinebeangallery is a curatorially led gallery dedicated to international contemporary art.

The gallery focuses on concentrated, long-term collaboration with selected artistic positions, nurturing their development over the course of many years.

Its program encompasses painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and installation-based formats.

At the core of the program are both traditional visual artists—such as Andrea Damp, Florian Fausch, Jose Girl, Armando Marino, and others—as well as artists whose work stems from other creative disciplines and evolves into an independent visual practice.

Among the artists represented by the janinebeangallery are figures from the music world—including Peter Doherty, Nick Zinner, and James Johnston—as well as Max Giermann from the field of acting, and Till Franzen from the film and television sector.

The gallery views these interdisciplinary backgrounds as a conceptually productive shift in perspective: artists who have worked across diverse creative fields often bring with them a unique openness regarding artistic processes, materiality, and visual composition. Within this dynamic interplay, a deliberate dialogue emerges between various artistic origins—a dialogue that profoundly shapes the gallery’s program.

Beyond its exhibition schedule in Berlin, the janinebeangallery regularly realizes international projects—including initiatives in Copenhagen, Los Angeles, and Bologna—and has collaborated with partner institutions such as the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, Scion Installation (Toyota) in Los Angeles, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin, the New York Academy of Art, the Government of Quebec Representation, and the Embassy of Luxembourg.

The janinebeangallery is a member of the Federal Association of German Galleries and Art Dealers (Bundesverband Deutscher Galerien und Kunsthändler e.V.).
