Bringing together large-scale paintings created between 2015 and 2017 with new works from 2026, the exhibition establishes a dialogue spanning more than a decade.
Rather than presenting a linear progression from earlier to more recent works, GLIMMER reveals the remarkable continuity of an artistic practice that repeatedly revisits and refines its central concerns.

In HM4T 4 EVR, Tina Winkhaus explores Heimat, memory and cultural imagery. Football, forests, deer, allotment gardens and pigeons become familiar signs whose meanings shift between personal experience, history and the present.
Marie Louise Elshout at Wereldmuseum Rotterdam
LEEF! Surrealisme | September 18, 2026 – August 29, 2027
Bringing together 90 works by 44 artists from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania, the exhibition examines Surrealism from an explicitly global perspective. Works from the Wereldmuseum’s collection are presented alongside international loans, pieces from major institutional collections, and contemporary artistic positions.
In this context, Marie Louise Elshout’s work is also placed within a broader art-historical framework. Her imagery fuses Surrealist thought with memory, folklore, and a contemporary reality in which nature, human projections, and culturally transmitted concepts constantly intertwine. The three exhibited works thus engage in an international dialogue regarding the enduring relevance of Surrealist visual strategies.
For collectors and long-time followers of her work, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Elshout’s artistic position within a comprehensive museum context. Three of the artist’s paintings are on display.

More than one hundred large-scale works—including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, light art, video and installation—will enter into direct dialogue with the raw industrial architecture of the former factory complex.
At BIG ART, janinebeangallery will present the Dutch artist Marie Louise Elshout with her multipart work Hunters at Dawn.

Marie Louise Elshout’s painting Hybrid #14 (Jackalopes) was selected for the Grote Nederlandse Kunstkalender 2026 and is featured on July 24. The original painting is currently on view at janinebeangallery in Berlin.
