Peter Doherty | Felt Better Alive
exhibition February 7th – April 26th 2025
opening reception: February 6th, 7 – 9pm
Titled “Felt Better Alive,” the multifaceted artist will showcase a collection of objects, installations, and canvases starting
February 6, 2025, all of which are intricately connected to his solo album of the same name, set to be released on May 16th 2025.
Doherty, recognized as the frontman of the bands “The Libertines”, “Babyshambles,” and others, is
broadening his artistic repertoire with this exhibition, forging an innovative intersection of visual art and music. “Felt Better Alive” transcends a mere collection of artworks; it embodies an expression of his profound creative journey. The exhibition illustrates how the artworks have inspired the forthcoming album and vice versa, establishing a symbiotic relationship between the two art forms.
On February 6, 2025, Peter Doherty’s solo exhibition “Felt Better Alive” will commence at the janinebeangallery from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibition will remain on display in the gallery’s rooms until April 26, 2025, Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., located at Torstraße 154 in Berlin.
Doherty’s works are characterized by their ambiguity, intertextuality, and associativity. They establish a non-linear network of information and cross-references that captivates with its poetic essence. In “Felt Better Alive,” this methodology is further enriched as the artworks function as an analogue hypertext,
inviting the viewer to uncover new connections and meanings.
The solo exhibition “Felt Better Alive” presents a distinctive opportunity to explore the creative versatility of Peter Doherty and to comprehend the intricate relationship between music and visual art.
