\u201eRetroactive\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n June 11th \u2013 August 20th 2016<\/p>\n opening reception: June 11th 4 \u2013 9pm<\/p>\n Anya Janssen RETROACTIVE online catalogue<\/a><\/p>\n The starting point for the exhibition \u201eRetro-active\u201c is a long-cherished wish of Anya Janssen: the idea of an exhibition of her \u201ekey works\u201c \u2013 artworks standing out as significant markers in the oeuvre of the artist. These are paintings which served following art pieces of Janssen as a reference, to organize and connect them or to function as a \u201emaster key\u201c for the concept of a series. Anya Janssen lives and works in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Her work is exhibited worldwide and part of several collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in Arnhem, DELA, ABN\/AMRO, Diesel, Delta Loyd, Ohra and Menzis. \nAnya Janssen decided to show a \u201ebest of\u201c of her paintings from the different series of the past 20 years. From the self-portraits in \u201eAnimal Urge\u201c, the identical twins in \u201eDouble-Edged\u201d, the wild girl in \u201eThe Shapeshifter\u201d to the deceased residents in \u201eThe House\u201d.
\nA mere retrospective means in contrast to the present work of an artist rather a review of inventory, whereas \u201eretro-active\u201c indicates an active, vivid connection to the present and an interface to the creations of Anya Janssen to come.<\/p>\n
